Single motherhood, the world of doing the things that the fairtales told us guys should do.
In our Single Moms Planet Facebook Group the question of what do you find the most challenging as a single mom came up? The comments kept pouring in. The common challenges; balancing life, finding time, going after your dreams were at the top of the list. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. The task that women lean on men to do, can literally wear us down and alter our emotional state, even leaving us feeling sad and alone.
- Taking out the trash.
- Pumping gas.
- Getting oil changes.
- Brining the groceries in the house.
Now some of you may not follow me on this one, but hands down, I don’t like doing the dirty work, I enjoy being a lady and really enjoy having a man in my life to do all the heavy lifting. When you go through a divorce or separation from you partner it can be a big blow. After my divorce I realized that the simple things not being done around the house by my ex were wearing me down. It put me into a reality check that I wasn’t ready for then and still adjusting to now.
I flat out don’t like doing the dirty work, and don’t ever want to get use to doing it on my own.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this ladies. Does taking out the trash and getting your oil changed make you want to scream? Or are you a mama that this doesn’t bother at all?
